Week 9 Term 4

Hi guys
I now have my bronze badge YAY. Yesterday and today we have had yr 6 oreintation for all the yr 6s coming to TAI in 2016 to meet their new teacher and have a look around the school. I am looking forward to a new year with some new yr 7s but I will miss the year 8s. There is now only 6 days untill the end of school for 2015. I have had so much fun this year and can't wait for 2016 to be even better! For the past week or so we have been doing a visual language task. We had to randomly select a song from the teacher, and then we read through the song and decided what we think that song means/is about. We have then put them onto a peice of cardboard with coloured paper and the title. This task is really fun to do.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog and enjoyed reading what I have been getting upto, untill next time have a great christmas break. Good luck to the yr 8s going off to college.

Wall.E

Last week we watched the movie Wall.E. We then had to write about the characters, how we like the movie and things like that so I thought I would share it with you.
Here it is I hope you enjoy!
Wall.E

The movie Wall.E is a Disney Pixar Animation written, and directed by Andrew Stanton who also wrote the movie Finding Nemo. This movie was produced by Jim Morris in July 2008.

The movie is about a old robot Wall.E who has a job to make earth clean again, and not dirty with rubbish everywhere. While everyone on earth is aboard the Axiom up in space he tries to clean the world but when Eve a newer more modern robot turns up to find new life on earth, Wall.E is soon attracted to this unknown robot. Wall.E is a Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth Class, his job is to get rid of all the rubbish on earth.

Wall.E and Eve are totally different from sound to appearance, and everything in between. Wall.E is an old ragged robot from the 21st century who has a objective to clean earth in seven years before the people aboard the Axiom come home to live. Wall.E is a big influence to Eve, because when Eve first arrives on earth she is on a mission but as she gets to know Wall.E she starts to think about how much she likes Wall.E. Eve on the other hand is a newer robot from the 22nd century whose objective is to find life on earth to take back to the Axiom so the captain knows that life on earth is sustainable for humans to live on. Eve has a very small influence on Wall.E as he stays himself for most of the movie, and just does what he does.
The Axiom is the shape of a cruise ship but instead of on water it is up in space. The Axiom is fully automated with robots that encounter to the humans every need which in future years makes everyone very fat, and lose most of their bones. This in the future makes things hard for people to walk, and do things for themselves. The lifestyle aboard the Axiom is quite weird, because all the people aboard are accompanied with robots and screens in front of them. They do not notice anything around them.

In conclusion I think that this movie was alright. The one thing that I did not really like was that there wasn’t much dialogue, this made some of the movie hard to understand. I think that the Axiom was a good alternative for the people of earth to live on. One thing they could change or add was more dialogue, and make sure the people noticed their surroundings, and not be looking at screens all day.

Week 7 Term 4

Bonjour
Its been a while since I last posted. I am only 4 signatures away from my bronze badge YAY. In maths we have done statistics, and we are now doing 3D shapes. In band we are going to be playing in the Contributing Schools Performance at Pekerau Primary, Te Awamutu Primary, and Pokuru School, I am pretty excited about this as it is tomorrow morning. We also have a Paris/France themed disco tonight I am going with a couple of my friends. I can't wait, this will be the last disco of the year. We have also started social dance this term, and its quite fun (sometimes). Last week we had school athletics and I am super happy with how I went, and I did get a Pb in shot put, so I was pretty excited about that because I threw 6.76 at WBOP champs for out of school athletics and the other day at school athletics I threw 7.10 metres. :-) At the moment we have been doing poetry moving images and song lyrics moving images which is actually fun because we got to choose a poem and make it into a video my poem that I did was Big Girls Don't Cry, and for my song I have done Roar by Katy Perry I think that song has a very strong message. I am also extremely happy because there is only a couple of weeks left of school, which means that Christmas is coming, and also my cousins from England are coming over! YAY
I hope you enjoyed watching my poetry moving image that I put on my blog!
Bye for now

Week 9-10

Bonjour
Well the last two weeks have been very chaotic, and quiet which was good cause I got lots of work done which means I sooo deserve a break! That's lucky because today is Thursday and tomorrow is Friday which also means that of 3 o'clock Friday we're on school holidays. In French for the last couple of weeks we have been learning how to say our family tree I am really proud because I said it without looking at my card that I had my family tree on.
This is my family tree. It says

Voici Ma Famille
Mon Grand-pere s'apple Warren
Ma Grand-mere s'apple Anne
Mon Pere s'apple Jeremy

Mon Grand-pere s'apple Russell
Ma Grand-mere s'apple Jenny
Ma mere Nicole

Moi Je m'apple Hadlee
Mon Frere s'apple Kohen

It means
This is my family..
My granddad is called..
My grandma is called..
My mum is called..
My dad is called..
I am called..
My brother is called

In maths I have learned how to find bearings, understand loci/locus, reflections, translations, rotation and enlarge and reduce shapes. I have finished all of these and my mind is full of lots of information.
Till after the holidays
Au Revoiur

My Future

I made this poem to share my thoughts on what I want my future to be like.

Week 4-8 Term 3

Hi everyone! Well its been a while, and a lot has happened like cross country's over and I'm pretty proud of my placing it got 50th out of 97 that is the most people I have ever raced against and to get that placing when i hate running I was pretty proud of my effort. We finished fabric and are into science it is really fun today Arden, Grace and I finished our marble race track and the task was to get the closest to 20 seconds and we had three tries, we then added our average and we got 19.99 we are pretty stoked about that. We have learnt how to say the colours and our family in French I can't wait for next year when mum, and I got to Noumea! I have my dance exams on Monday I am pretty nervous about them but I'm excited too, and if I get a high enough mark in ballet I get to go on POINTE shoes next year yay! Last Thursday most of the band students went up to Murray's Bay for the annual over night stay it was so much fun. Murray's Bay Intermediate have over 50 class rooms and the school is soo much bigger than ours. In maths we have finished algebra and have started geometry. Geometry is really fun and I'm really looking forward to doing more on the subject. In ready I have done my Short Story Analysis and I did a much better job that my last one, and I am also nearly done my Novel Response that is coming along really well and I cant wait to see what the final product is. We have also done speeches as you may already know we had Rowan from the yrs 7s go through to the school final, and also Amelia, Oksana and Kylie all made it through to the school final.
Thanks for reading I hope you have awesome school holidays which are coming up soon.
See You Later

My Speech

I have decided to share my speech with everyone so here it is I hope you like it.

Should people over the age of 75 be driving?

Putt, Putt, Putt. Do you ever find yourself sitting behind and old Grandma or Poppa going
20kph in a 50kph zone. Do your parents get grumpy, angry, and annoyed when this happens?
Should the people infront really be driving. I have reasons to suggest that people over 75 shouldn’t be
driving.

When you’re on the road, and have elderly in front of you do you notice that they are OVER
cautious and drive to far to the left?  well I know I have, if you have, do you think that they could
cause a crash and risk the life of not only themselves but you too?  Elderly can be very cautious while
driving and most of the time it’s on the road but sometimes it happens in the shopping mall
carparks. As people get older they tend to forget things and one of these things they forget is the road
rules. During 2002 5,590 New Zealand pensioners over 75 were either killed or injured
because of involvement in crashes. This is a large number of elderly and as the population gets bigger
more and more elderly could cause crashes due to being over cautious. Pensioners who forget
the road rules are more likely to crash or cause crashes, and be injured on the road, a lot of people
forget the road rules or choose to ignore them, but when this happens the consequence can result
in a life threatening situation.

When people get their driver’s licence they don’t need to resit the driving test again until they are 75.
Then once you turn 75 you must renew your license. I gathered info from the New Zealand
Transport Agency about pensioners and their drivers licence. Pensioners must renew their licence
at age 75, 80 and every two years after that. If they wish to continue driving, they have to renew their
driver’s licence on or before the expiry date with a medical certificate from their doctor saying
they are medically fit and healthy to drive on the road. This certificate is only valid for 60 days. If it
isn’t used within this timeframe they have to get another one. If their doctor has recommended a
driving test to see if they are medically fit enough to drive, then they will have to sit a 30-minute
On-road Safety Test and pass before they are issued with their new license.I think that even though
these people are really old, something needs to happen and fast, they need to at least have
someone younger in the car at all times so if they pass out or something the next person can pull
over and get help.

I know that I can get frustrated following behind pensioners and quite frankly most of you probably
do too. How do your parents react when following behind slow cars on the road, do they start growling
under their breath and getting frustrated? Have you ever thought that if these pensioners didn't have
their license who would drive them around, who would take them to the doctors, who would get their
groceries ? Yes there is online shopping these days, but pensioners using a computer  - well that's a
whole other speech! Sometimes we do get annoyed and frustrated when we see the pensioners
driving slow and too far to the left - but we may just have to get used to it - we will be 75 one day !
Think about this, do you have grandparents or great grandparents over 75? Do they drive slow, too far
to the left and annoy others on the road, risking not only their lives but yours, and others too? Do we
need to amend the law so that the elderly need to re-sit their licence on a more frequent basis and
have restrictions so that they drive on the correct side of the road and
in a safer manner

Week 3 Term 3

I haven't posted in a while and a lot has gone on in the first three weeks of term. We started Cross Country and Sewing. Cross Country is going really well and I am trying to go further each time and I am about 3k away from completing a half marathon which is pretty amazing for me as I HATE running. In sewing we have made a pencil case and a ball and we have now finished our pillows and I am REALLY, on mine I have the words family sport dance, and friends some smiley faces and my initials in the middle.all these things on my pillow represent me a lot. I have finished my speech, and next week we say them in front of the class I am pretty nervous about saying it. This pillow looks like the ones we made but we have our own designs on them. Last week we also had the college expo at our school they had a lot of cool things to do my favourite were food, dance, drama, and design.

Week 11 Term 2

Well its the last week of term 2 which means SCHOOL HOLIDAYS a time to relax with friends and family ,and have a lot of fun. In Wood Work I have finished making a disco ball and it turned out better than I thought it doesn't spin but it does look really cool in the dark my next project that I am finishing today is a shelf with doors to store stuff in and so far it looks really cool and I can't wait to see what it looks like when it is done. I cant wait till next term when we head to Soft Materials.

This week for the past few days we have had 40 students down from Belmont Intermediate in Auckland for a sports exchange which took place on Wednesday which I didn't get to see because I was away sick with a cold. In band this week we had a very special person from America come and help us with a song for a concert next Tuesday with the College band ,Waikato Youth Band ,and the Waikato Schools Band ,and in total their will be about 180 people participating in this but I am not one of them as I am already to busy on that night. Well that's all for now see you next week.

Week 5 Term 2

Salut, Je m'appelle Hadlee! Tu t'appelles comment

Je m'appelle Mya

Comment ca s'ecrit

Ca s'ecrit  M-em  Y-egrake  A-a

Ah beintot. Au revoir Mya

Au revoir Hadlee

This week I learnt how to have a conversation in FRENCH and I'm pretty good so by the time next year comes around and I go to Noumea, I will be a pro. In maths this week I have learnt how to show one number as a fraction of another and to find the whole number of a given fraction. Eg for how to show one number as a fraction of another, 1mtr is 20cm first of all you need to change the metre into cm so 1000 cm is 1 mtr this fraction would be           20          then the next thing you do is see if you can simplify this number a
                                                  1000
and you can the easiest number you can simplify this by is 20 so 20 divided by 20 is 1 and 100 divided by 20 is 5 so therefore the final fraction is      1
                                                               5
The next one is how to find a whole from a given number  Eg      2     is 8 now when you work this out you
                                                                                                 3
need to find   1    to do this you need to do 8 divided by 2 = 4 so if 1 third is 4 and two thirds is 8 the whole
                    3
must be ...   to work this out all you do is 4 times 3 = 12 therefore the whole number is is 12.

In other news our new class furniture turned up yesterday we got two small tables for the mat and little cookie cushions to go with it.

Au revoir

Week Four Term 2

Bonjour Everyone,
This week has been really fun and exciting because our clay jandals arrived the ones that we molded then got sent to a kiln where they were fired so they would go hard so we could paint then, then we had to under-glaze them and glaze them with this white glaze that makes them shiny then again they were sent back to the kiln to get fired ready for us to bead them.I can still do my watercolour art until I get to bead my jandal. I am really close to getting another SHINE band I can't wait till I get another one.A couple of weeks ago I trialled for the Te Awamutu year 7 Representative team and got in again and by again I mean that last year I got in to the Year 6 Reps and so I was stoked when I found out I got in this year as well.We have our first rep tournament next Sunday I hope that this year we will have another winning streak.

Yay, I didn't think that I would do it today but I did, I finally beaded my jandal!!!!
Here is a photo of the finshed product!!!

I am so Happy with my jandal

Te Awamutu Intermediate present Once Upon a Crime | March 26

This is my groups ONTV performance I hope you like it

Wellington Camp 2015

I'm back from camp but I really want to go back because it was so much fun. My favourite activity was Snorkeling because i have never done it before and i loved seeing all the see wild life my favourite fish was this silver and blue fish that followed us around when we were snorkeling.
Sunday
On Sunday I arrived at school at around 8:15 and dropped all my stuff of so it could be put on the bus. We left school once everyone had arrived and that was about 9:30. Our 8 hour bus drive wasn't the best way to spend my Sunday but on the way down Caitlin and I finished a Mansion Mystery game on the Ipad that was pretty fun to do. We finally got to Wellington at about 6:30 and by then I really just wanted to sleep.I couldn't wait for the next few days at camp.
Monday
On Monday we went to Zealandia, Te Papa, World War One National library and H2OExtreme Zealandia is a protected wildlife park with endangered species and almost extinct animals I really liked patting a Tuatara  because I have never done that before the Tuatara skin was soft and not scaly at all. Te Papa was cool I loved looking at the Giant Squid it's MASSIVE and also all the old artifacts that are stored there are amazing. The WW1 library was a bit boring and I didn't really have fun there mostly because some of the things that our guide said was really confusing, and I didn't get it. H2O Extreme was so much fun we jumped into the pool went around the lazy river swum through the waves in the wave pool went down the hydro slides and down a slide that went straight down the splashed you so much when you landed at the bottom.Camp we went and that night i couldn't sleep I was still extremely excited.

yellow-slide-resizeh20-xtream-SA-listing.jpg (866×768)My FAVOURITE slide!!!!
"The Speed Slide"

Tuesday
On Tuesday we went to the Carter Observatory, on the Cable Car, we meet Barbara Kruiger the Taranaki/King Country MP at Parliament, and went to Capital E. The Carter Observatory was cool I really liked the part where we laid on chairs and looked at the stars I almost fell asleep!! Then we went on the Cable Car I was really looking forward to it but when we hopped on and left the station It wasn't what I thought it was I thought it was going to be fast and go further than 150 metres but that's ok it was still a cool experience. We then went to Parliament and meet Andrew Little and Barbara Kruiger, while we were at Parliament we went into the house during question time that was hilarious because everyone was yelling at each other. After Parliament we went to Capital E and my group went to the media studios and made 3D movies and that was so much fun.I couldn't wait till our next turn at the ONTV part of the studio. Then it was back to camp and as soon as we got there I went straight to the jumping mat and got sand all done my back.
beehive.jpg (788×496)The Beehive
Wednesday
On Tuesday we went to the Zoo and Snorkeling. The Zoo was fun I saw a baby Chimpanzee that looked like a human and a Yellow Eyed Penguin being operated on this penguin wasn't from the zoo it was from the wild and had broken its flipper and had a scratch in its eye. I still think that Auckland Zoo is better because it has way more animals to look at and learn about. Then it was off to snorkeling I was so nervous because I was scared about drowning and not being able to breath properly but in the end I was fine and I loved it I saw so many animals and my favourite two The Snake Starfish and a Blue and Silver Fish that Followed Arden and I around the whole time. Then we went to the Island Bay Marine Aquarium that was cool I saw Shark eggs, a Octopus, Starfish, Seahorses and heaps more it was so cool. Then it was back to camp and by then I was exhausted.
Island Bay and Aquarium.JPG (1200×900)This is were we went Snorkeling! The brown house looking thing in the distance is the Aquarium
Thursday
Thursday was our our last day at camp we went to the Holocaust Center , the Museum of Wellington, and back to Capital E. The Holocaust Center was Boring mostly because I didn't know much about it and we sat down on our buts for about an Hour and a half But the amazing thing about that was that one school has collected One and a Half MILLION buttons to represent every single child that died in the Holocaust. The Museum of Wellington was next and we learnt about the Wahine Disaster that was pretty amazing how it went down and also I found out after I got home and told my Family about camp that my Granddad was on the Wahine one week before that the ship went down. Then back to Capital E for the Movie Part of the building our movie that we made was called Once Upon A Crime and I was a Presenter with Brooke it was really fun and now I'm FAMOUS (only on YouTube though) My favourite part of doing that was being able to dress up and make a movie because I have never made a move with so many people before. We then went back to camp for our last night there.
capital-e-central-exterior-content.jpg (320×240)This is where we did ONTV and Media Studios.
Friday
Wakey wakey girls. "is it really 6:30 already" I said to Arden. Breakfast finish packing our bags put them on the bus, toilet and of we went for our trip home another boring trip on the bus but I was super excited when we go to Te Awamutu because my brother and dad were coming home and most of all I had not seen my mum since Saturday so I really missed her. I could not wait to get home and lie down and relax before netball the next day. I had so much fun and can't wait till next years camp.

My Thoughts on Wellington Camp

After today I only have two more days until I go to camp not that I'm counting down, I'm also really excited about going to camp because its my first time going this far for camp. The only thing I'm not looking forward to doing is the six hour bus trip down which will be a tad boring. In Wellington we are going to Zealandia, Te Papa, WW1 Exhibition, Carter Observatory, Cable Car, Parliament, ONTV and Media Studios just to name a few. I am most excited about going snorkeling because I have never done it before and we will get to see some amazing little creatures in the water. I cant wait till camp now that it is getting so close its going to be so much fun. I am really going to have heaps of fun and probably wont want to come home and Ill want to stay and do more.

My Weekly Reflection

Wow its now Week 6 and nearly the end of the Term and it doesn't even feel like it. This week in Tech arts we did some assessments on the keyboard, guitar and drums I got a 3 on the keyboard because  I can play with two hands, a two for guitar and keyboard the highest score we could get was a three and the lowest being a 1. This morning we had a Powhiri for the Japanese students that have come to New Zealand to stay with students from Te Awamutu Intermediate I didn't have one this year but I'm hoping to have one next year.Next Sunday we go to Wellington for camp YAY! Its going to be so much fun I cant wait, we got to choose who we wanted in our cabin I'm with Raiha and Arden and in my parent group I'm with Rowan Arden's mum, Jorja, Arden and I.

Week 2 Term 1

This week I have learnt a lot. I have learnt what Place Value, Total Value and Face Value means. Place Value is the column that the number is in. Face Value is the number by itself and Total Value is Face Value times Place Value, for example the 5 in 324589 would be 500. I have also learnt some French like Madame, Bonjour and a lot more that I cant remember. Te Awamutu Intermediate is a very busy and big place, compared to my Primary school. I am looking forward to everything that T.A.I has to offer.
